03 — Wood
Choose your wood.
Each species has its own grain, colour, and engraving character. All boards are finished with food-safe oil. Standard boards are approx. 5.25″ × 20″; live edge boards keep the natural, unfinished edge of the tree, so their width varies from one to the next.
Maple
Pale and fine-grained. The lightest of our woods, giving the highest contrast for engraved detail. A classic, clean look.
Cherry
Warm cherry with its natural unfinished edge intact. Slightly softer, more variation in figure than the walnut live edge. Each one truly unique.
Cherry
Warm reddish-brown that deepens beautifully with age. Balanced engraving contrast and a soft, traditional feel.
Oak
Golden brown with prominent open grain. Bold and rustic — character you can feel.
Walnut
Rich dark brown with deep figure. Engraving reads lighter against the wood, like a stamp. Our most striking option.
Walnut
Same rich walnut, with the natural live edge of the tree retained on one side. Every board is one of one — no two are alike.
04 — Engraving style
How should it carve?
Both look beautiful — it's a matter of preference and the design's character.
Engraved (V-carved)
Carved deep into the wood with a router bit. Dimensional, tactile, slightly rough edges. Best for bolder designs.
Laser-etched
Burned onto the surface with a laser. Crisper fine detail, ink-like look. Best for delicate script and intricate sprigs.
